A project from a while ago. This prototype has as few rigid parts as possible, only a small chip + battery pack. The buttons are very large, soft, and operable by squeezing to remain usable by people with low motor control. The center chip offers light, sound, and haptic feedback which differs between the yes and no buttons. The device as a whole is so soft that it is quite durable, able to be dropped and thrown into walls with little damage as well as being splash proofed using waterproof fabric (Though it is not submersible due to the flap to access the replaceable batteries.) The fit is adjustable with a simple buckle, like a backpack strap.
I'm currently making a personal library of 3D ornamental woodwork patterns (as well as some 2D engraving work I've made), if you'd like to use it just ask. Currently has a lot of gothic, floral, and celtic designs, esp. scrollwork, and a bit of ironwork-inspired patterns and modern stuff. In the future I might make some jigs to make these sorts of designs more accessible to whoever wishes to use them, though many of these sorts of designs were popular historically because of their inability to be made with jigs, requiring large amounts of skill alone
A cribbage board I made for a friend of mine who likes cribbage, ended up a bit rushed as she was leaving so I had to wrap it up, but future boards will have steel and wood inlays. This was quite insightful on how differently machined finishes of wood impact chemical finish absorbance. (The entire piece used the same thickness of the same dye-heavy chestnut stain as well as the same hard wax oil, but the engraving was done through offset [as opposed to "with the grain" raster] v-bit machining and cleaned up with some dremel bits, leaving it very rough.) I was going for a more traditional, detail-oriented impression, or as she said, "dark academia" which I think turned out pretty well.
Fully designed concept of a lantern frame that uses a standardized size of bases, tops, and faces which can all be interchanged to be customized for any occasion Just need to go make it now, it can be hung from its top or rested on its bottom and has no exposed end grain so it's very dimensionally stable and stainable if you want it no carving (though I am using the 3D carvings above so I'd recommend using solid hardwood.) I'm considering selling this and offering "packs" of the elements (like holidays, styles, etc.) This design is uniquely producable in bulk bc all components are slightly different cuts of the same base material that can all be carved and engraved at once with surprisingly little hardwood waste
I've formulated my own hard wax oil (my favorite wood finish in general) and am currently designing a machine to produce it at scale to supply the shop. Let me know if you would like some as I doubt the shop will need as much as it can produce
